Platform Engineering · Delivery and automation review
DevOps & IaC Assessment.
Find the gaps in infrastructure code, CI/CD and operational practice that make releases inconsistent or difficult to trust.
- Indicative timeline
- 3–5 business days once repository access, pipeline evidence and interview availability are in place.
- Investment approach
- Quoted after confirming the number of repositories, pipelines, environments and interview sessions. Any implementation work is scoped separately.
01 · Business challenge
The problem this package addresses
Infrastructure may be defined in code while deployment still depends on manual steps, shared credentials or repository-specific conventions. This assessment reviews the delivery path end to end and turns the findings into an ordered improvement backlog.
02 · What you get
Defined technical outcomes
- A current-state view of infrastructure repositories, pipeline flow and release controls within the agreed scope.
- A findings register for repeatability, access, validation, policy, secrets, drift and operational ownership.
- A prioritized improvement backlog with dependencies and practical next steps.
- A target workflow sketch and review readout for platform and application stakeholders.
03 · Scope of work
Work included
- Review selected Terraform or Bicep repositories, module patterns, state handling and environment promotion approach.
- Trace a representative change through pull request validation, identity, approvals, deployment and rollback.
- Assess policy and security checks, secrets handling, artifact provenance, drift visibility and operational ownership.
- Connect observations to the team’s release goals and rank changes by risk and implementation effort.
04 · Acceptance
How completion is reviewed
Final acceptance checks are agreed in the statement of work before implementation. Typical checks include:
- Each finding identifies the reviewed evidence, its delivery or operational impact, and a recommended action.
- The backlog distinguishes foundational controls from optional improvements and records dependencies.
- The team receives a readout and can clarify or correct findings before the report is finalized.
05 · Delivery process
From discovery to handover
- DiscoverConfirm the target users, workload boundary, dependencies and acceptance conditions.
- DesignAgree the architecture decisions, delivery sequence, access model and implementation plan.
- Build and validateImplement the scoped work in the client environment and review it against the agreed checks.
- Hand overTransfer code, documentation, runbooks and ownership to the client team.
06 · Technical foundation
Tools and architecture
Terraform and provider-specific IaC such as Bicep or CloudFormation; CI/CD platforms such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps or GitLab CI; pull-request validation, workload identity federation, policy-as-code, secret management, artifact promotion and drift detection.
